River Island Ranch

This unique property, controlling over 5 miles of the Jefferson River in two channels featured an almost 300 acre island in the river, the largest island in the entire Jefferson River Basin. Ranches of the West (ROW) assisted with acquisition, due diligence, and disposition of the ranch. Irrigation, pond, food plat, and riparian area fence improvements, along with a special winter only grazing regime yielded dramatic results.

The ranch has became home to one and sometimes two families of  moose (these huge animals do incredible damages to fences, by the way) a trophy whitetail population was cultivated, waterfowl hunting became superb prior to ice in and fisheries values markedly increased, especially for spring and fall 20inch plus migratory spawners. The ranch was sold in 2008.
