Laprele Ranch

Laprele Creek Ranch is a terrific ranch with four ecosystems, whitetail, mulie, loads of elk during the winter range months, and great fishing. It is part of famous Game Management Area 7.  The Ranch enjoys1933 measured  acres inclusive of a captive state lease. The rugged mountain and canyon lands and rolling bottoms comprise an estimated 5,000 plus surface acres.  About 350 acres are irrigated. Flood irrigation is being replaced with Pivots/wheel lines.  Several hundred cattle call this place home at various times in the spring and fall. Along with neighboring spreads, about 40 horses liven up the flanks of it’s canyons at other times of the year.

The Ranch boasts 1.5 miles give or take of Laprele Creek, a great, if technical, rainbow and brown fishery. Three other creeks, Rattlesnake, Crazy Woman, and Canyon (intermittent) flow through various portions of the ranch.  Four ponds have been built, two of which tie into the irrigation delivery system enhancements. All boast unbelievable fishing for 2-5 lb rainbows, browns, and cutthroat, depending on the pond.  Four more ponds are planned to be constructed.  A great historic log ranch home has been 99% re-done.  Given that we contemplated tearing the 2700 square foot structure down due to it’s pathetic condition, the successful historic renovation has been both a huge project and immensely satisfying. The ranch home history includes an army way station, pony express horse interchange point, and the ranch was home to the first ever triple crown winner in 1914.??Over the next several years, work on the entry, spring development,  the final pond developments, a controlled burn in concert with Wyoming Fish and Game to reinvigorate all important scrub oak and mountain mahogany indigenous to  the critical winter habitat areas of the canyons, a pipe/tank system in the high country, along with re-farming virtually all crop fields will about finish this transformation of dilapidated property to signature agricultural and recreational ranch.
