Ranches of the West is a multi-task ranch, resource, and land management firm. Our mission is to create and maintain sustainable resources, generate additional land values and preserve all or a portion of the land and its resources in perpetuity. Our offices are located in Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado.

Large pristine working ranches and fine recreational properties are becoming less and less plentiful in the west, and across the United States, in Canada and South America. The pressing dynamics of the world economy, pressures of the ever expanding human footprint, and the realities of today’s agrarian business structure have resulted in erosion of the quality and quantity of numerous resource, agricultural, and prime habitat areas at an accelerated pace.

In the USA, the land is part of our heritage. Careful planning of varied uses such as mineral extraction, energy exploration, agricultural, livestock, wildlife, fisheries, range, water, and forest resources, human consumption of land for residential and other purposes, is key to the future balance of the land, and preservation of our national character.

With forty plus years of expertise involving thousands of properties throughout the world, Ranches of the West, as principals and third party consultants and managers, emphasizes how best to use and protect the land’s fragile resources while still initiating meaningful values, return, and enjoyment.

This site features past and present properties that we have had the good fortune of being involved with either as consultants, managers or owners. There is useful and sometimes amusing general information. Clear demonstrations of our preservation oriented philosophy, regarding virtually every ingredient of the proper stewardship, land planning, use, ranch and recreational property operations, and resources are included herein. We have also incorporated some interesting case studies.
