Montana Ranch Projects
Montana is a land of vastness and contrast. In many ways the state is an anachronism. ‘Change is bad’ sentiment juxtaposes with the installment of high speed internet and fiber-optics to tiny towns. The heavily treed and forested west slope of the rocky mountain spine changes mysteriously to the arid desert alpine of vast sage flats, stunning river views, green ribbons of riparian area and trout filled rivers on the east slope of the Rockies. Ever widening water courses and the undulation of the Great Plains blend with the toe of the Rocky Mountains in the eastern part of the state.
We have been fortunate enough to have consulted, managed or had ownership interests in more than a hundred splendid ranches in this land of dichotomy. We’ve had the privilege to protect tens of thousands of acres through conservation easements and other preservation tools have achieved dual results of preservation and retained monetary value.
In many other instances we have advised and saved several score of local generational ranch families from precarious financial predicaments, we assisted these clients with planning and implementing a profitable mixture of the old west blended with the new management styles. This has allowed many longtime family ranches to keep the ranch, keep the land intact, and the ranching business viable and increasingly profitable. These are among our favorite success stories.
