Reid has been assisting ranchers and property owners for more than twenty years restoring land that have been overused and overworked. Reid has the unique gift of seeing restored acreage in much the same way as an artist views a blank canvas. Visions of ponds and fence lines, riparian areas and working acreage along with building envelopes help restore, enhance, or properly utilize each individual property in its own distinctive way.
The creative abilities Reid has used in his ranch enhancement and development has given him a rare perspective on ranching traditions and today’s culture. His fiction writing reflects hard won battles and a heart-felt love for the land and resources that he has worked with, and fought to protect for so long. His upcoming book about ranching gives a humorous, invaluable, fun to read, yet highly experienced look at how to locate, acquire, plan, and manage land and livestock for both profit and joy.

ahhhhhhh.....co-authoring.
rewarding, interesting, exasperating, frustrating, motivating all rolled into one. But having a back and forth editorial process built in at inception is quite valuable, and the whole process, while certainly more time consuming (and assuming the co-authors do not have a breakdown in the process) should result in an extraordinary finished work. thanks Topaz.

Well I look forward to the romance novels. Is it difficult to co-author a book? I'm writing my own and can't imagine having to coordinate schedules, share ideas and be a slave to anothers time frame.

Hi Topaz. That all depends on the publisher and getting the writing done on my side of the fence as the author (which I am rightfully getting bugged about weekly--smile). I am thinking that the first two books will not be too awfully far apart. The very first "publication" however, should be 2010 calendars featuring some of my landscape and rainbow pictures shot over three decades at wild, remote and beautiful locations on the ranches and around the Rockies. The pics will be accompanied by some great musings from one of the west\'s most preeminent authors. With a bit of luck, some of those photos will be available on this site shortly.

thank you denise and gayle for your comments. much appreciated. While I have had short story, some poetry, and host of editorial/op-ed materials published, the first books are right now in the brew, so to speak.
In answer to the second part of the query, several are about land, ranching, improvement and preservation. The how to, and the why from my unique experience and perspective assembled and written in a manner not attempted before.
The others are fiction. The bow of that ship is a contemporary western romance trilogy with a great co-author. It is all great fun. I think (admitting some bias of course, he said with a big grin) the work that is evolving on the non fiction side will be a very interesting mix of very useful pragmatic information, humor, and story. And with that same bias, the first of the novels will blend steamy romance with intriguing plot several levels above the "typical" protagonist/antagonist/interesting female love interest story lines we are all familiar with.
thanks, and the best to you!
Reid

It's an interesting combination, ranching/author. Do you have any books published yet? And if so are they about land, or do you write fiction?
